Here are the supplies that you will need to make the salt dough ornaments:
.
.
First preheat the oven to 250°
.
.
Add 1 cup of water to the flour and salt mixture.
.
.
Mix the ingredients together until they form a ball of dough.
.
.
Separate dough into 4 balls and add food coloring to each dough ball.
.
.
Here is an idea of what your dough should look like.
.
.
Using your rolling pin and some more flour, roll out each ball of dough to about 1/8th of an inch thickness.
.
.
Place the heart shapes on a baking sheet. They can be pretty close together as long as they aren't touching.
.
.
We had some fun and made some color swirl hearts as well.
.
.
Use a pointed object to create a small hole at the top of the ornament for the ribbon to go through later. I used a citrus peeler stick.
.
.
When the ornaments have cooled, cut a piece of ribbon to the desired length. Thread it through the ornament, then knot the ribbon closed.
.
.
Now you can take a marker and write messages on the hearts. We had fun writing Bible verses and messages from God, the ultimate valentine.
.
.
.
The finished ornaments can be given to friends, used as ornaments, etc.

Then mix 2 cups of flour and 1 cup of salt together.
If it is too sticky you can add more flour.
Knead the color into the dough until the whole ball is the color you would like.
Now use the heart cookie cutter to attain the desired shape.
Use a damp rag to wipe off the excess flour.
Next place the tray in the oven and bake for 1 1/2 hours. Be careful not to burn them but they should be rigid when they are done.
